Lazio have reportedly added free agent Samir Handanovic to their list of possible options to play backup to Ivan Provedel.

The Biancocelesti are looking to pick up a new second-choice shot stopper this summer, deciding to give up on Luis Maximiano after his dreadful debut campaign.

In the meantime, Lazio are finally completing their first business of the summer transfer window, picking up Argentinian striker Valentin Castellanos from New York City FC.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lazio are on the hunt for a backup goalkeeper and have added Handanovic to their list of possible candidates.

The 39-year-old Slovenian shot stopper is currently a free agent after his contract expired with Inter at the start of this month.

He briefly spent six months with Lazio from January to June 2006, arriving on loan to be the third-choice goalkeeper.

Handanovic is liked by the club but coach Maurizio Sarri would prefer a move for Sampdoria’s Emil Audero.
