Napoli confirm Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been diagnosed with an adductor muscle contracture and according to Sky Sport Italia, the Georgia international won’t be available against Atalanta on Saturday.

Kvaratskhelia suffered a muscle injury during Georgia’s win over Greece earlier this week. The game was historic for Kvara and his compatriots, who qualified for the European Championship for the first time ever.

However, it brought bad news for Napoli as Kvara suffered an adductor injury during the game, as Napoli confirmed with an official statement on Thursday.

The Partenopei said Kvaratskhelia underwent medical tests after returning from international duty, which highlighted a ‘strong adductor muscle contracture in his left thigh.’

The Georgia international worked in the gym and underwent treatment today.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Kvaratskhelia wants to play against Atalanta, but Napoli doctors will predictably advise against taking any risks to avoid further damage, so the 23-year-old is expected to be ruled out of Saturday’s key Serie A match against La Dea.
