Juventus striker Moise Kean admits he thought he had ‘disappointed everyone’ when a loan move to Atletico Madrid collapsed in January.

The Italy international was on the verge of joining Atletico Madrid on loan in the January transfer window, but the deal collapsed after the striker’s medical tests in the Spanish capital.

“It was very hard. I was with my mother, and for a moment, I felt like I had disappointed everyone,” Kean said in a video posted on his official YouTube channel.

“My mum let me understand that life didn’t stop there so I kept going. I am a grown man, I take my responsibilities and I keep working hard. Family keeps you up. There are no better things than family, people and everyone around. This is the only thing that can keep you up.”

Kean is still out of action due to a shin injury so he is not available for a Serie A game against Napoli at the Stadio Maradona on Sunday.

Kean returned to Juventus from Everton in 2021 following Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Manchester United. He has not yet scored a goal in 12 appearances with the Old Lady in 2023-24 but hopes to return to action shortly.

“Before I didn’t know what that’s mean to be working hard. I thought, ok, the talent is doing. I’ve been saying, ‘I’m talented. Why do I need to work for that?'” the striker added.

“But I saw that if you want to be better and better and better, you can’t always be on the same level. I want to be on the top. That’s why I am working on myself all the time.”

Kean’s Juventus contract runs out in June 2025 but he may leave Turin permanently at the end of the season if he doesn’t sign a contract extension at the Allianz Stadium in the next few months.
