Juventus Player Ratings vs Lecce: Milik’s Strike Settles Cagey Affair

At the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Juventus hosted Lecce for the curtain opener of Serie A Round 6. While this won’t go down as a memorable affair, the Bianconeri returned to winning ways, putting their horrific display in Sassuolo behind them. The Giallorossi frustrated the home side for an hour, but never truly managed to test Wojciech Szczesny’s resilience. At the end of the day, it was a close-range tap-in from Arkadiusz Milik that delivered the three points for the wounded giants. Wojciech Szczesny – 6

Following the horror show at the Mapei Stadium, the Pole was seeking atonement. However, the Lecce players failed to test him with a single shot on target. Nevertheless, getting the clean sheet should be refreshing.

Danilo – 6.5

The Juventus captain was untroubled at the back. He also pushed his teammates forward. Although his distribution was hit-and-miss, he picked up Chiesa with a brilliant through ball that should have culminated in a goal.

Gleison Bremer – 6

The Brazilian committed several hasty fouls on Nikola Krstović as he chased him all over the pitch. Could have cost his team with these needless challenges.

Daniele Rugani – 6.5

A comfortable display in defense from the former Empoli man on his first start of the season. Made a good case for additional playing time.

Weston McKennie – 6.5

The Texan made himself a protagonist on both ends of the pitch. Did well to win back possession on many occasions. Delivered the pre-assist with a decent cross to Rabiot.

Nicolò Fagioli – 6

The Italian midfielder displayed some flashes of brilliance, but still doesn’t appear to be at his sharpest from a technical and physical standpoint.

Manuel Locatelli – 6

A solid if unspectacular display from the former Sassuolo man who sat in front of the defense and did well to retrieve the ball. However, his attacking contribution was limited.

Adrien Rabiot – 6.5

The Frenchman started slow but his performance grew as the match progressed. His header provided the assist for the winner. Could have delivered another one, but decided to go for goal himself.

Andrea Cambiaso – 5.5

A lukewarm display from the former Genoa man. Didn’t put a foot wrong throughout the match, but hardly provided attacking depth on the left flank.

Federico Chiesa – 6

The former Fiorentina ran his socks off for the team. He remains the most creative force at Juventus but will certainly rue his missed one-on-one opportunity in the first half.

Arkadiusz Milik – 6.5

The Pole hardly impressed during the first half, wasting several balls with his heavy touch. But his display improved after the interval and eventually found the back of the net. His goal may have been a simple tap-in, but he also helped in the build-up.

Substitutes

Filip Kostic – 6

A positive cameo from the Serbian winger who combined well with Chiesa on one occasion, but was hoping to receive the ball back after putting himself in a good shooting.

Federico Gatti – 6

A morale-boosting appearance for the Juventus defender following the traumatic events of the weekend. He was barely tested though.
