Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is his team’s ideal player to cement a spot for themselves in the last eight of the Champions League, in the view of Italian media.

The 25-year-old is branded the Nerazzurri’s “man for the Champions League” in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who argue that he can strive to emulate his countryman Diego Milito in the competition.

At the latter stages of the Champions League, individual quality becomes more and more important ass the continent’s elite start to face off against one another.

Based on this season, Martinez would be the clearest candidate from Inter’s squad to impact matches at this level.

The Argentine has been scoring at a rate of just under a goal per match for the Nerazzurri this season, and in the view of the Gazzetta, has reached the next level now that he has finally cut some struggles with consistency out of his game.

The newspaper argues that Martinez is now a player who is fully at home in an atmosphere like the latter stages of the Champions League knockouts, and he can take Inter with him.
