Inter have been pipped at the post by Juventus for Tiago Djaló, whom they planned to add for free to their aging defense next season. They’ll have to look elsewhere to insert some fresh energy. They are keeping tabs on Facundo Medina. However, it won’t be easy to sway Lens, Foot Mercato informs (via Mediaset).

The Argentine has a €20M valuation. His club is preparing a renewal to increase their leverage further. He’s already under contract with them till 2026.

The 24-year-old moved to France from Talleres in a €3.5M move in 2020. He has become a staple almost right away and has totaled 117 appearances since, scoring 8 times and providing 7 assists. A few more clubs are after him on top of Inter.

Medina has made three caps with the Albiceleste and can feature as a left-back in a pinch.

Our Take on the Inter Defense

At some point, they’ll have to devise a succession plan for Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij, who aren’t getting any younger, but they might be able to postpone it for another year.

If Tajon Buchanan shows well and Denzel Dumfries stays, they won’t necessarily need to add a center-back next summer. They’ll be able to use Matteo Darmian there and Yann Aurel Bisseck is bound to improve naturally. If they were to bring in a new piece, it would be somebody a lot less pricey, as they did with the German talent and plotted with Djaló.
