Chelsea certainly made some questionable signings over recent seasons that’s for sure, and some of the players they signed regret every doing so.

For whatever reasons some signings just do not work out, and some stories do not go according to plan.

Sources: Jose Mourinho wanted to manage Chelsea for a THIRD time this summer!

That can certainly be said for Alexandre Pato when he decided to join Chelsea. Things most certainly didn’t go to plan for club or player.

Pato only played twice for Chelsea, and he has admitted in an interview with The Players’ Tribune that he regrets moving to Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian forward arrived at Chelsea alongside a string of other desperate and odd signings, including Matt Miazga and Michael Hector. It was a strange period of recruitment for the club.

Pato though, was a highly rated player in world football and there were high expectations for him. He even scored for Chelsea on his debut. But it wasn’t meant to be, and Pato wishes he never joined Chelsea.

He said: “You know why I played so much better at São Paulo? They looked after me properly. There I just had to play. But when Chelsea called me, I was still dreaming of Europe. Unfortunately, I paid the price again for being overprotected.

“I still didn’t get it. I thought that Chelsea would loan me for six months and then I’d sign for three years. I didn’t realise that they could say no after the loan. Had I known? I would have gone elsewhere. It was a pity, because I was training really well, and the coach only played me twice. I never understood why.”
