'I don’t understand why he joined Chelsea' – William Gallas lays into Chelsea defender full of 'bad habits'

Bad results for Chelsea guarantee one thing – former Blues laying into the current players and comparing them with the heroes of their generation.

We’ve already heard from Frank Leboeuf, now it’s time for one of his successors at left back, William Gallas, to have his say.

Former France international Gallas picked out one player in particular who had disappointed him – and it’s an unusual choice, centre back Axel Disasi, who signed from Monaco after Wesley Fofana’s bad injury.

“I was one of the guys who didn’t understand why Disasi joined Chelsea,’ former Blues defender Gallas said in quoted picked up by the Metro.

“The Premier League is a different league in terms of difficulty. Even though he is a physical player he has to understand strikers will be very strong when they challenge him.

“He has to improve a lot, but he has the opportunity to play alongside Thiago Silva and he has to learn from him, speak to him a lot, and Silva can help him move to the next step.

“Even though he has joined Chelsea it doesn’t mean he is completely ready.

“He still has some bad habits and he has to change them. That’s why when I saw his name, I thought he was not ready to join Chelsea.

“But you have to give him time to settle into a new country, new players and a new club. You have to give him time. When you have a foreign player who joins the Premier League you have to at least give them one year.”

To be honest, Disasi has been one of the players who has not done too much wrong, from where we we’re watching. We agree somewhat that the signing was unnecessary (Bashir Humphreys could have played these first games, with Trevoh Chalobah back from injury after the international break), but it’s hardly like Disasi has been a liability.
