Luis Suarez scored three goals in 19 minutes as Gremio came from 3-1 down to win 4-3 away at Botafogo in the Brazilian Serie A on Thursday night.

The former Liverpool and Barcelona forward danced around a defender on the edge of the six-yard box before firing in his first goal of the game on 50 minutes.

His second was the product of a sharp one-touch finish at the far post moments later.

Captain Suarez then completed his hat-trick with a low strike from 13 yards after a determined dribble into the penalty area.

Highlights: Botafogo 3-4 Gremio

Suarez looked emotional when he was substituted off in the 82nd minute.

Gremio's traveling fans were heard begging him to stay at the club as chants of "Fica (stay) Suarez" echoed around the stadium.

Those fans could be set for heartbreak because, according to ESPN, Inter Miami have agreed a deal with Gremio to sign Suarez after the Serie A season ends in December.

Suarez has scored 26 goals in 49 games in all competitions since joining Gremio from Nacional in his native Uruguay late last year.

A move to Miami would see Suarez reunited with ex-Barca teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Messi and Suarez assisted each other 86 times while playing for Barca between 2014 and 2020.
