Sheffield United faces yet another injury setback before their upcoming match against Tottenham Hotspur. Reports from Greece suggest that George Baldock will be unavailable for Greece’s matches against the Netherlands and Gibraltar this week due to a calf injury he sustained during training [mbl Sport].

While this injury is considered fresh in Greece, Baldock has been grappling with calf problems recently, causing him to miss Sheffield United’s match against Nottingham Forest just three weeks ago. Initially hoping to represent Greece during the international break, he is now expected to return to Sheffield for a thorough examination of his injury.

This adds to the growing list of injury concerns for the Blades as Anel Ahmedhodzic disclosed earlier this week that a minor hamstring issue prevented him from joining his Bosnia and Herzegovina teammates, for international duty. The 24-year-old has reportedly faced suspension from his national team for choosing to remain in England to begin rehabilitation, aiming for a swift return to action. The Bosnian FA had anticipated his arrival for assessment by their medical staff.

Paul Heckingbottom was also anxiously hoping for good news regarding another defender, John Egan. Egan was forced to leave the field during the match against Everton due to injuries to his knee and ankle. Despite these setbacks, Egan joined up with the Republic of Ireland squad earlier this week and participated in training with Stephen Kenny’s team before their upcoming match against France in Paris scheduled for tonight, Thursday.
