Gary Neville believes that INEOS have already made their mind up when it comes to the state of affairs at Manchester United.

Following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s deal to buy a minority stake of the football club in December, several appointments were made in the aftermath. Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc were brought in at board level.

INEOS have also been working hard behind the scenes to get the right people into the club. That meant Richard Arnold and John Murtough were sent their marching orders.

Omar Berrada has already been appointed as chief executive and we’ve lured Jason Wilcox from Southampton to become our new technical director. United have also identified Dan Ashworth as their number one target for a sporting director, although the club is still locked in negotiations with Newcastle, who have placed him on gardening leave.

Furthermore, Ratcliffe intends to improve the club’s infrastructure and plans are in place for an Old Trafford regeneration.

Speaking to Sky Sports about INEOS’ work to date at United, Neville told Sky Sports: “If you think about what INEOS have done since they’ve come in, thewy’ve sent us all quite a clear message. They’ve wiped out the whole top of the club. The whole lot, they’ve all gone and they’ve brought in three new people already.”

Neville claims that the decisive actions taken by the new co-owners so gar may not bode so well for Erik ten Hag or his group of underperforming stars.

“Obviously, the manager and the players at the end of the season, the decision… we would always been waiting until then, but they’ve sent a clear message to everybody that they don’t like what they see and they didn’t like that they found.

“The reality of it is that it’s going to be an uncertain, turbulent few months for Manchester United, not just on the playing side but on the non-playing side as well because there’s going to be so much change there. They obviously don’t like it, or else they wouldn’t have changed CEO, sporting director, technical director – they’ve just swept everybody out.”

Only time will tell if INEOS can restore United to previous heights. It will take a lot of hard work, dedication and help from the best in class.
