Jermain Defoe will take part a charity football match with proceeds going towards the Bradley Lowery Foundation and the Foundation of Light.

An announcement was made by the Bradley Lowery Foundation's twitter account on Tuesday confirming Defoe had agreed to play in the fundraising event.

Defoe, who had a heart-warming relationship with Bradley, was also recently nominated for the Premier League hall of fame alongside 14 other nominees. 

The match takes place on Monday May 8 at 1pm and is being organised by Sellebrity Soccer.

Alongside Defoe, more former footballers have been announced including Sunderland native's Michael Gray and Jill Scott.

A whole host of celebrities have also been announced with James Arthur, Ant Middleton and Sunderland fan Chris Hughes all set to play in the event.

Former Blackpool and QPR Manager Ian Holloway has confirmed he will be managing one of the two teams at the Stadium of Light.

Tickets for the event are already on sale are priced at £12 for adults and £6 for under-16's and over-65's.
