Evra says United star’s showing vs Chelsea ‘reminds him’ of Premier League legend with 211 goals

Patrice Evra saw glimpses of Frank Lampard in Scott McTominay during Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea last night.

The midfielder became United’s top goalscorer for the term after his brace claimed a crucial three points for the Reds at Old Trafford. He now has six to his name in all competitions; five in the Premier League and one in the Champions League.

Following a season in which he was used sparingly and in a more rotational role, McTominay has now cemented his place in the starting 11 under Erik ten Hag, with the Dutchman well aware that he can come in clutch when United need it most.

McTominay has even taken his prolific form over to the international stage, scoring a remarkable seven goals for Scotland throughout their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, he’ll be hoping to have the same impact at next year’s tournament in Germany.

Evra reserves special praise for McTominay

As such, the 26-year-old has been on the receiving end of high praise in recent months, and Evra’s comments would certainly land well if word gets back to the United ace.

Speaking on Amazon Prime Video following the full-time whistle at Old Trafford, the former left-back said: “The way he ghosted into the box reminds me of Frank Lampard, a little bit. He’s always in the right place at the right time.”
