Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard responded to Cristiano Ronaldo‘s argument that the Saudi PL is better than the renowned French league. The retired Belgian footballer exclaimed that the Middle Eastern league might have big players, but do not have big teams.

The Portuguese star, who currently plays for Al-Nassr, made a controversial remark while on an interview at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai. The 39-year former Real Madrid star moved to the cash-rich Saudi Pro League, leading to a mass exodus of players from Europe to the Middle East.

Hazard in a recent interview, expressed disagreement with Ronaldo’s statement. He asserted that the French league is much more competitive than the Asian league, particularly mentioning that a Ligue 1 team would emerge victorious against any Saudi counterpart, highlighting its depth and quality. The former Lille star moreover, exclaimed that there are no big teams in the Saudi PL, compared to the French league.

I'm not agreeing with him but that's just an opinion. If you look at the league in Saudi, they have big players, it's just that they're not big teams. In France, maybe now they have fewer big players, but they have big teams.

Additionally, Eden Hazard, while speaking to ex-Chelsea star John Obi-Mikel on his podcast, weighed in on the GOAT debate. He snubbed both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, to choose Frenchman Zinedine Zidane as the best player of all time.
