Darren Bent makes bold claim surround Premier League’s £70million+ transfers

Darren Bent has said that successful £70million+ transfers in the Premier League have only been made at Liverpool.

Bent made the claim on Talksport, saying that two Reds players are prime examples that that is the case, with several others failing to cut the mustard.

Most players that cost at least £70million, tend to not work out very well.

“Lukaku – didn’t work, Kai Havertz – hasn’t worked. The only two I can think of that have done well are Van Dijk and Allison.

The former striker then went on to show sympathy for a certain Manchester United defender, saying the lack of high performances due to the pressure he’s faced at Old Trafford means that he may need a move away from the club.

The one I feel for the most is Harry Maguire. Whatever the reason, he hasn’t truly been a success. He’s a good defender but I think the expectation is way too high and he needs a fresh start.”

Bent probably isn’t too far wrong with his opinion, which proves just how tough it can be for some players to live up to the demands of top-level football.
