Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson was delighted with Jordan Ayew for victory over Burnley.

Jeffrey Schlupp and Tyrick Mitchell scored for the Eagles.

Hodgson said, "We did realize that they are very good at playing out from the back. They do it well, but occasionally they are going to take the odd chance or two.

We hoped that maybe we could punish one of the moments, perhaps when they didn't get it quite right. Jordan chose his time perfectly, won the ball, his cross was good, and Jeffrey Schlupp made up an enormous amount of ground to slide the ball in the goal.

That was a very, very pleasing goal. And to be fair, it [also] was with the other one because our left-backs don't score that many goals. We've got to be very happy."

On returning Eberichi Eze, he added: "It was a difficult game for [Eze] because, to be fair, we didn't have the ball as much as we would like. To get the best out of him, we need to get the ball to him, get it to his feet, get him in the game.

I don't think we could get him in the game as much as we would really like to do. But that's the nature of the game."
