Concern for Spurs as star player now set to undergo an assessment from the medical team ahead of Brighton game

According to Evening Standard, Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma is set to undergo an assessment before a decision is made for the Brighton game.

Spurs have been unfortunate regarding player availability this season, as approximately 21 members of the current squad have experienced injuries at various points.

Ange Postecoglou was anticipating the return of all his players from national team duties in good health. This includes the club captain, Heung-min Son, along with Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr.

However, it was revealed that the Mali international Yves Bissouma played through the games in AFCON while suffering from Malaria.

The country’s manager Eric Chelle offered an update on Bissouma following their defeat to Ivory Coast in the AFCON quarter-finals, revealing that the former Brighton midfielder played in that game despite battling malaria.

The report claims that the 27-year-old is set to arrive at Hotspur Way in the next few days for an assessment by the club’s medical team following Mali’s elimination.

Although it has been reported that Bissouma is no longer suffering from the malaria disease and has recovered, the club doctors will make the final decision.

Bissouma has been an integral part of Tottenham this season under Ange Postecoglou and his return is expected to give the manager a major boost.

Whether he is named in the starting XI against Brighton or is eased back into the team remains to be seen.
