The script could hardly have been written better for Lorenzo Colombo last night as he came off the bench and scored against his parent club AC Milan to seal a 4-2 win for Monza.

Colombo did not start the game as Palladino opted to go with Milan Djuric up front instead, and at half-time the hosts were cruising thanks to goals from Pessina and Mota which gave them a 2-0 lead.

Luka Jovic then saw red early in the second half which complicated things further, but Milan roared back and levelled the game thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic who came off the bench.

However, they would be caught out again at the other end as Bondo made it 3-2 to the hosts in added time then finally Colombo got a long-awaited goal to make sure of the win. He spoke to DAZN after the game (via MilanNews).

Mixed emotions, what prevails?

“The amazement perhaps. We were on top, then they got back on top, then we won. We are very happy.”

Monza have been waiting for a win like this.

“We certainly wanted a victory against a big team, it came against Milan which mean a lot to me, it’s my second home, I can’t wait to celebrate with my team-mates. I dedicate the goal to my girlfriend and my family.”

Colombo also put out a post on social media which reads as follows: “I think respect is one of the most important values, in football as in life. You all know my journey and you can imagine the emotions I’m feeling after yesterday’s goal. I will always give everything for the shirt I wear, without forgetting the one I belong to.”
