AFC Bournemouth are still in contention to sign Bristol City’s Alex Scott with the Premier League club continuing to negotiate with Bristol City, according to journalist John Percy.

Bournemouth in ‘Advanced Talks’ for Alex Scott

Iraola Wants Two New Midfielders

Following the Cherries’ home defeat to Atalanta in the club’s penultimate pre-season fixture, Andoni Iraola was insistent that the Dorset club require at least two new central midfielders.

The departures of Jefferson Lerma and Ben Pearson have left the central midfield berth light at Vitality Stadium, and with Joe Rothwell still recovering from an injury sustained at the tail end of last season, there are few options for the Spaniard to call on.

Philip Billing was also crocked for the defeat to Atalanta, leaving Ryan Christie to fill in alongside Lewis Cook in the Cherries engine room, and Iraola is now prioritising his midfield after bringing in Justin Kluivert in attack, Milos Kerkez at left back and Andrei Radu in goal.

Cherries Edge Ahead of Wolves for Scott

Percy’s report in The Telegraph states that the Robins “have stuck rigidly” to their £25 million valuation of Scott, having previously rejected a bid worth £15 million from the Cherries and two bids from Wolves, one of which was worth £20 million.

Bournemouth are now considered favourites though, and are now in “advanced talks” for a deal worth £25 million, with Scott “closing in” on a move to the Premier League side.

It would now seem that the Cherries have now beaten Wolves to the punch as the Midlands club are not in a “financial situation” to do a deal, according to journalist Alex Crook.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been Bournemouth’s ‘top target‘ this summer and journalist Alex Crook has insisted that the club had  “never walked away” from the deal.

The talkSPORT journalist has previously described Scott as a “tremendous athlete” with a “great football brain” and the news that Bournemouth are close to capturing their man will please fans of the South Coast club.
