Christian Eriksen reportedly choosing between Manchester United, Brentford

Shortly after it was reported last week that Brentford were "resigned" to losing star midfielder Christian Eriksen this summer, likely to either Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United, it was learned that United had made "initial contact" with representatives for Eriksen. 

A later story claimed, however, that Eriksen had rejected United and was on track to either remain with Brentford for a full season or rejoin Tottenham, where he previously spent seven years and where he played under boss Antonio Conte when both were employed by Serie A club Inter Milan. 

Eriksen's transfer saga has taken yet another twist. 

Sky Sports News reported on Thursday that Eriksen is now deciding between staying at Brentford or moving to United. 

"Both clubs have made him very good offers - but United's is thought to be more financially lucrative," the story notes. Sky Sports adds that the 30-year-old is "unlikely to re-sign for Tottenham, who primarily play with two central midfielders under Antonio Conte and have committed to both Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma this year."

Eriksen trained at Ajax under current United manager Erik ten Hag while working to return to competitive football following the cardiac arrest he suffered at the UEFA European Championship in June 2021. The Danish maestro ultimately signed with Brentford in late January and tallied a goal and four assists across 11 appearances. 

In short, it seems Eriksen will choose between staying at Brentford where he is comfortable and knows he'll receive plenty of first-team football ahead of the fall World Cup, and heading to United to cash in on what will likely be the last big-money deal of his playing career.
