The process of AC Milan appointing a new head coach to succeed Stefano Pioli is ongoing and a new name has emerged today: Graham Potter.

According to TMW, Potter – who most recently worked at Chelsea and is currently under contract there after they sacked him – has been evaluated by the management in recent months, so much so that he was actually linked back in February.

It is in the interests of Chelsea to hope he gets another job given he signed a five-year contract with them that is still running until 30 June 2027. The Blues spent around €23m to get him from Brighton, exceeding what Bayern Munich paid RB Leipzig to secure the signature of Julian Nagelsmann.

Potter has been out of work since but he is attracting interest in view of next season, from Milan but also from Ajax who consider him to be the ideal candidate. It remains to be understood what Potter’s intention will be, given the money he is owed by Chelsea.

The report adds that Geoffrey Moncada is pushing for Paulo Fonseca but it is a name that neither Zlatan Ibrahimovic nor Giorgio Furlani are particularly excited by.

Sergio Conceicao also remains on the table, who could free himself from Porto after the election of André Villas Boas. Mendes has been working with the Rossoneri for a few weeks on the idea.
