Brighton chairman Tony Bloom has paid tribute to Alexis Mac Allister after his move to Liverpool today.

Mac Allister has signed for the Reds in a 35m switch.

Bloom said: "We are incredibly proud of Alexis and we are sad to see him go. He did something very special when he became the first Brighton player to win the World Cup and he was a key player in our best ever season.

"He will always be welcome here at Amex and in the city. On behalf of all Albion fans, I would like to thank Alexis for the many great memories and outstanding performances in a Brighton shirt and wish him well in the next chapter of his career."

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi also said: "I am proud to have been Alexis' coach; he is a very talented player. It has also been a privilege to work with a guy who has strong and traditional values, and I wish him luck in the future."
