Tottenham Hotspur signed Wales forward Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest on transfer deadline day.

The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a six-year contract with Spurs until June 2029.

Johnson had been on the books at Forest since 2009 and scored 29 goals in 109 first-team appearances for the club.

Spurs have paid Forest a £47.5 million transfer fee for Johnson, while the deal also includes a 10% sell-on clause.

Johnson is therefore now Forest's most expensive export of all-time, breaking the record previously set by the £15m sale of Britt Assombalonga to Middlesbrough in 2021.

Forest manager Steve Cooper paid tribute to Johnson in a parting statement.

It read: "Whilst we're obviously going to miss Brennan and the memories he's given so many of us when he's lit up the City Ground on the right wing, we're extremely proud of him and we're pleased that he's got this move as he enters the next stage in his career.

"Everyone knows how great he is on the pitch, but what many people don't see is the kind, humble and genuine young man he is off it.

"He was always learning, always showed great humility and had a superb nature in the way he interacted with his teammates and staff.

"All credit must go to his family especially his mum and dad, Alison and David, who should be so proud of the incredible young man they have raised.

"He will be missed by everyone, but he will always be a Red."

Forest moved quickly to replace Johnson by signing Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea and loaning Divock Origi from AC Milan on Friday.

Although Johnson often played on the right flank for Forest, many expect him to feature as a central striker for Spurs.

Johnson will wear the no.22 squad number at Tottenham.
