Bobby Clark Scores First Liverpool Goal As Sparta Prague Get Hit for Six at Anfield

Bobby Clark scored the first goal of his senior career as Liverpool hammered Sparta Prague 6-1 at Anfield on Thursday to progress to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League.

Cody Gakpo bagged a brace and Darwin Nunez, Mo Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai also found the net in what was Liverpool's biggest win of the season so far.

The Reds prevailed 11-2 on aggregate, having won 5-1 in the Czech Republic seven days earlier.

Nunez opened the scoring in the seventh minute before 19-year-old Clark - who is the son of former Newcastle midfielder Lee Clark - made it 2-0 just 68 seconds later.

Clark's goal was set up by Salah, who dispossessed Sparta captain Ladislav Krejci on the edge of the penalty area.

The roles were reversed in the 10th minute when Salah fired home from 17 yards after Clark had tackled Jaroslav Zeleny.

It was 4-0 before the quarter-hour mark after Salah produced his second assist of the game by teeing up Gakpo.

Veljko Birmancevic pulled a goal back for Sparta in the 42nd minute but Liverpool restored their four-goal lead early in the second half courtesy of a deflected strike from Szoboszlai.

Gakpo completed the scoring when he got a slight touch on a long-range effort from Harvey Elliott.

The Dutchman was later denied a hat-trick by an offside call.
