Blades defender reveals positive injury update

John Egan is optimistic about his recovery after undergoing surgery for a significant injury sustained during the match against West Ham in September.

The Blades captain, sidelined until the new year, provided an update on his rehabilitation process approximately six weeks after the operation. Egan joins teammates Chris Basham and Tom Davies in the treatment room, all dealing with long-term injuries.

“I’m feeling good. Obviously at the start it was a tough one to take, knowing you’ve done a significant injury. But I’ve had the operation now so hopefully I can get the boot off soon and and start cracking on.” [SUTV]

It’s fair to say the Republic of Ireland international didn’t have the best of starts to the season before his injury. Some may even argue since Auston Trusty and Jack Robinson have featured in the back line that they’ve defended better than when Egan was playing.

But still, it’s not been good enough from those screening the defence, which is ultimately hindering the performances of the two centre-backs.

If Trusty and Robinson maintain their good partnership together over the next month then Egan will find it difficult to get back into the team when he’s match-ready after the new year.
