Barcelona are hoping to secure the signing of Paris Saint-Germain creator Xavi Simons this summer on loan, but will have to persuade the French champions to accept a deal. With relations strained between the two clubs, it could be a tricky operation, but Fabrizio Romano has given Culers hope of a deal.

As per Romano, Simons will leave on loan this summer, despite reports that he could head back to the French capital. PSG do not want to sell Simons this summer though, and current side RB Leipzig do not have the money to make the deal permanent, but will be part of the list of clubs pushing for his services in the summer. Multiple Premier League sides will also offer Simons a home, but Barcelona are pushing to make the deal happen. Either way, he will decide his future before the Euros this summer, and Simons’ voice will carry some weight in the decision.

Prior reports claim that Simons wants to return to Barcelona, where he grew up and spent a number of years at La Masia. The 21-year-old has 9 goals and 15 assists this season for Leipzig, and has continued his growth following a successful loan spell at PSV Eindhoven last year. Perhaps the largest obstacle to a move will be Luis Enrique, who has generally found a use for players of Simons’ skillset.
