'Awful' – Tottenham star slammed by pundit despite their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest

Yves Bissouma has been slammed for his reckless tackle against Nottingham Forest which resulted in him being sent off.

The 27-year-old made late contact with Forest Captain Ryan Yates around the 69-minute mark and caught him high on the leg with his studs.

Initially, the referee issued the midfielder a yellow card. Upon being instructed by the VAR to review on the pitch-side monitor, he changed his decision, upgrading the yellow card to a red, and rightly so.

Postecoglou and his men were down to 10 in the 70th minute. But fortunately for them, it didn’t impact their 2-0 lead, and they finished the game comfortably without any real consequences.

The Mali international is set to miss the next four games with suspension. He is also expected to be unavailable for Spurs for several weeks as he is supposed to report to international duty for the AFCON which starts from 13th January.

However, his recent actions were deemed ‘awful’, as labelled by former Nottingham Forest midfielder David Prutton.

Speaking to the Premier League Productions, he said (via TBR):

“This to me is a red card. It’s an awful challenge. He can have absolutely no debate about it. This has got to be a red card. Even the look of Ange Postecoglou’s face is the look of guilt for Yves Bissouma.”

Ange will now have to navigate the next few games without Bissouma and Bentancur available to him.

Hojbjerg is most likely expected to replace Bissouma, who although may not be an ideal player for his system, but is an ever reliable presence in the midfield.
