Aston Villa defender Digne tells French fans: Martinez a really good guy

Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne has dismissed French criticism of Emi Martinez.

The Argentina goalkeeper upset Lille fans during Villa's shootout triumph as they reached the Europa League semifinals.

Digne said: "He's like that, he has a reputation, he knows how to deal with it and the proof is that he did it well. I'm happy to have him with me, his performance this evening too was excellent.

"He is an extra asset for the team, he plays well with his feet and is a good goalkeeper. I also understand the French national team because I was there during the World Cup.

"But he's a good person when you get to know him, he's a really good guy."
