'A question for him' – Pochettino on what Mudryk needs to do to get run of games

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino says that it is a question for Mykhailo Mudryk rather than himself on what the winger needs to do to get a run of starts on this Chelsea team.

Mudryk’s time at Chelsea has been very up and down since he arrived well over a year ago now, and his performances have been somewhat inconsistent at times. There has certainly been bright moments and real signs of a quality player being in there, but he’s not quite managed to show enough yet.

There is also the argument that he has not been given enough opportunities to show what he can do in terms of regular starts or a run in the team, and that is what a reporter asked Pochettino about last night after Mudryk scored Chelsea’s third goal to help them beat Newcastle United 3-2 at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

It was a great goal, and the manager acknowledged that in his response. He said: “It was a very good goal, he scored a really good goal and that is what we expect from a player that came from the bench, an impact. Then it’s about to compete with different players in the position he can play and then deserve to play. It’s more of a question for him than for me.”
