€55m-rated forward with 20 goal contributions this season ‘tempted’ to join Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to convince Nico Williams to join them in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on reinforcing their attack ahead of next season. The North London club are looking to bring in a new winger and have their eyes set on Athletic Club’s Nico Williams who has been a standout performer for the Spanish club.

According to AS via SportWitness, the 21-year-old is ‘tempted’ to join them in the upcoming summer transfer window. Despite his age, he is already a mainstay in the Athletic Club’s first team and his impressive performances have helped him cement a place in the Spanish national team as well.

In the ongoing season, Williams has featured in a total of 30 matches and has contributed towards 20 goals. He has 14 assists to his name and has found the back of the net on six occasions. The 21-year-old has played a big part in their recent Copa del Rey triumph. He bagged an assist in the final and overall he had eight goal contributions in his six outings in the competition as Athletic Club ended their 40-year-long trophy drought.

His consistent performances and huge potential have attracted a lot of attention. While he did pen down an extension towards the end of last year that runs until the summer of 2017, there is a €55 million release clause in his contract. The clause is considered to be an affordable one for a club like Tottenham and they have already started to tempt the player in recent months to make a switch to North London.

Ange Postecoglou is looking for depth on the flanks. He is looking for someone who can help him in the long run and Williams surely fits the bill. He can play on either flank and his arrival will give the Spurs boss the option to play with.
