Lake Tahoe Storm Under Delivers, But Provides Enough To Refresh

Yesterday, OpenSnow announced that six to 20 inches of snow were possible around Lake Tahoe between Wednesday night and Thursday of this week.

However, the forecasting group amended their forecast in the morning, writing on X, "The front fell apart as it reached the northern Sierra overnight instead of south of Tahoe as the models were showing."

Around half of the originally forecasted snow fell last night, according to OpenSnow.

Still, plenty of Lake Tahoe resorts received a solid refresh. Palisades Tahoe picked up eight inches of snow at its summit. Homewood Mountain Resort saw 10 inches.

The bigger picture looks even brighter despite the slightly disappointing storm. As of this morning, Palisades Tahoe was at 92% of its average seasonal snowfall, totaling 12 feet in March alone.

Another round of storms might bring more snow this weekend. "We could see 11-23 inches of snow on the mountain by Sunday night and several inches down to lake level," OpenSnow explained in another post on X.
