Yes, Tony Hawk is really selling limited edition skateboards painted with his blood

Tony Hawk has long been nicknamed Birdman, which sounds like a superhero's name, and now the 53-year-old skateboarder is doing something that could easily fit within the DC Extended Universe or Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hawk announced Tuesday (Aug. 24) that he has partnered with Liquid Death to create and sell 100 limited edition skateboards painted with his blood:

In the video, the skateboarding pioneer and 12-time repeating world champion jokes that Liquid Death "owns my soul and my blood, too" after he became an ambassador for Liquid Death Mountain Water. We watch as he gets his blood drawn, and then the blood is poured directly into a red paint canister.

"They're gonna mix my blood with the paint into the paint and do a limited run of skateboards using my real blood in the graphics," Hawk explains, adding that a portion of the proceeds will go toward 5 Gyres and The Skatepark Project.

The boards have already sold out.

But fans can still get a piece of Hawk through the forthcoming feature-length documentary about his life and career produced by Duplass Brothers Productions.
