Brooklyn has some pretty exciting things on the horizon- for skateboarders that is- as the city has teamed up with Tony Hawk’s, The Skatepark Project, to bring two brand-new skateparks to Kings County. The news was announced late in January by Mayor Eric Adams.

The funding for the project has reached $24 million, hinting that the new skateparks will be quite extensive, something that has been long overdue for the skateboarding community in Brooklyn.

“True to our mission as an organization, these projects will serve the immediate needs of the community, celebrate the great legacy of skateboarding in New York, and will allow anyone within these communities who wants to learn to skate the opportunity to do so,” said Benjamin Anderson Bashein, Executive Director of The Skatepark Project.
