German diver Stephan Feck’s second round attempt in the Men’s 3m springboard event was a textbook lesson in how not to perform an Olympic dive, as Feck ended up hitting the water flat on his back, much to the astonishment of the crowd at the Aquatics Center. That terrible dive, the result of Feck losing his grip on his left leg during rotation, left the German in dead last, 29th overall, and out of the competition.

It’s hard to laugh at Feck’s failure on the 3m springboard, because he was in some pain after slamming into the water back first, even though he did manage to perform one more dive after his failed attempt. But it’s also hard not to laugh at his ridiculously bad dive, because it looks quite hilarious, and he ended up not seriously injured when all was said and done. I guess you could say I’m torn…but not really. I, like many people, take pleasure in other people’s misfortune.

At least Feck will be able to enjoy his fleeting Internet fame, while it lasts.

Here’s video of the dive for you to enjoy until the IOC has it taken down…

And in GIF form, where it will live on forever…

Cue the obvious “What the Feck?” jokes. I imagine the 22-year-old from Leipzig will be able to get past his Olympic failure in due time, and without much problem, seeing that he’s had to live with the name Feck his entire life.
