World Championship: Pettersson gets assist in Sweden's opener
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

WHEELING, W.VA. -- The World Championship opened on Friday in Czechia, and it was a quiet day for the Penguins players involved.

Marcus Pettersson had the lone point by any Penguin on Friday, the secondary helper on a Marcus Johansson goal. It was Sweden's third goal in a 5-2 win over the United States.

Pettersson was a plus-3 in 17:02 in the win on Sweden's third defense pairing. Erik Karlsson was scoreless and a plus-1 in 20:56 on the top pairing.

Alex Nedeljkovic, who was a late addition to the U.S. roster this week, didn't dress in the loss.
