Will anything go right for the Buffalo Sabres this season?
Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

Coming into the 2023-24 season with a plethora of young talent and motivation to change the narrative, the Buffalo Sabres are once again on the outside looking in with a 22-23-4 record and 48 points, sixth in the Atlantic Division and nine points out of the second and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The news got worse on Monday when it was revealed Sabres’ forward Jack Quinn underwent surgery for a lower-body injury and is expected to miss around eight weeks.

Drafted No. 8 overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Quinn already missed the first 32 games of the season after undergoing achilles surgery in June, but made an immediate impact, scoring goals goals and 12 assists for 17 points.

On Tuesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss Quinn’s injury and where this leaves a Sabres squad that’s been a disappointment.

Tyler Yaremchuk: The Sabres are going to be without Jack Quinn for the next eight weeks. This is a guy, on a personal level, I feel for Quinn. He misses the first chunk of the season, comes back and he looks like he’s finally starting to gain some ground, then boom, another lower-body injury keeps him out for eight weeks.

Frank Seravalli: A tough blow for him and a Sabres team that really can’t get right this season. You look at Jack Quinn and his season, he was humming along with 12 points through 17 games to start his season.

When you consider where this Sabres team is, where the young pieces are and who has had a good season, including Quinn and JJ Peterka, you’re left wondering: when are we going to see the real Sabres? It’s just been one disappointment after another in Buffalo.
