Watch: Bruins, Penguins players rock old school baseball uniforms before Winter Classic

The 2023 Winter Classic between the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins takes place Monday afternoon and before the action commenced on the outdoor ice, players on both teams arrived in style.

The top team in the NHL at 28-4-4, the Bs stepped off the team bus at Fenway Park -- home of the Boston Red Sox -- sporting old-school uniforms from the city's favorite baseball team that they wore in the early 20th century. The Bruins weren't done there, as a handful of players took the snow-covered field for warmups and played catch.

Red Sox fan-favorite Enrique "Kike" Hernandez participated in some of the Bruins' warmup tosses as well.

The Penguins (19-11-6) and their players donned the Pirates' jerseys from their 1925 campaign.

The Bruins hosted the Winter Classic at Fenway Park one other time when they defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 in overtime in 2010. The annual event began in 2008 when the Penguins won against the host Buffalo Sabres at Ralph Wilson Stadium, 2-1 in a shootout.

Pittsburgh hosted the 2011 Winter Classic at Heinz Field and defeated the Washington Capitals, 3-1. The Bruins were also the hosts of the 2016 event when they fell to the Montreal Canadiens 5-1 at Gillette Stadium -- home of the New England Patriots -- and they beat the host Chicago Blackhawks 4-2 in the 2019 Winter Classic at Notre Dame Stadium.
