Ty Dellandrea signs one-year, $900,000 deal with Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars have signed forward Ty Dellandrea to a one-year, $900,000 AAV deal.

“Ty’s become one of our most dependable two-way forwards,” Stars GM Jim Nill said in a team release. “His versatility allows him to play up and down the lineup, and he proved in the playoffs his ability to take his game to another level. He’s a heart-and-soul type of player, and we’re happy to have him under contract for the upcoming season.”

Dellandrea, 22, is coming off of his first full NHL campaign, recording nine goals and 28 points in 82 games. Dellandrea also had three goals in the playoffs, highlighted by a big two-goal performance against Vegas to keep their season alive in the Western Conference final in late May.

Taken with the 13th pick in 2013, Dellandrea has 12 goals and 33 points in 109 games over three NHL seasons. He also has 27 goals and 59 points in 87 games in the AHL with Texas, highlighted by his 50-point run in 2021-22. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dellandrea played six games with JYP in the top Finnish league, scoring twice and adding an assist. Dellandrea was a stout performer with the Flint Firebirds, a team he captained for two seasons. Dellandrea recorded a solid 216 points in 231 games in his four-year stint with the club, which also saw him win gold at the 2017 Hlinka Gretzky and 2020 World Junior Championship.

According to CapFriendly, the Stars sit $317,829 over the salary cap right now. AHLer Riley Damiani is the only RFA without a deal, with no clear LTIR candidates as of yet. CapFriendly has the team sitting with 13 forwards and eight defensemen, with a depth player likely headed on waivers early in the season with only Wyatt Johnston and Thomas Harley waiver-exempt for now.
