Seth Jones to Participate in 2023 NHL Hardest Shot Competition at All-Star Weekend
Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

Perhaps wearing a Blackhawks jersey this time around will help Jones get over the hump in his fourth NHL Hardest Shot competition.

NHL All-Star Weekend is upon us, and the league has announced which players will be participating in various skills challenges. Seth Jones, the Chicago Blackhawks' lone 2023 All-Star, will tee it up in the NHL Hardest Shot competition.

This year's event will mark Jones' fourth time partaking in the NHL Hardest Shot competition. The 6-foot-4 defenseman gave it a go in 2017, 2019, and 2020 as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets but never won the event.

From what I've been able to gather, Jones' hardest recorded shot in the contest came in 2019 when he blasted a 99.4 MPH clapper. John Carlson of the Washington Capitals topped out at 102.8 MPH to take home the hardware that year.

Perhaps wearing a Blackhawks jersey this time around will help Jones get over the hump.

Here's who he'll be competing against in the competition:

2023 NHL Hardest Shot Participants

  • Rasmus Dahlin, Buffalo Sabres
  • Seth Jones, Chicago Blackhawks
  • Josh Morrissey, Winnipeg Jets
  • Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals
  • Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks

The 2023 NHL All-Star Skills competition will take place on Friday, Feb. 3 at 6 PM CT and the festivities will air on ESPN, ESPN+, Sportsnet, and TVA Sports.
