Saros, Sissons Lead Predators to 4-1 Win Over Kings
USA TODAY Sports

The Nashville Predators continued collecting points with a 4-1 win over the L.A. Kings Thursday night. Juuse Saros was rock solid in net for the Predators making 27 of 28 saves and only allowing one goal on a five on three Kings chance at the end of the first period.

Nashville relied once again on depth scoring as Yakov Trenin, Mark Jankowski, Colton SIssons, and Jeremy Lauzon scored. Sissons had a three point night with an empty net goal and assisting on Trenin and Lauzon's scores.

Game Recap

Nashville got on the board first midway through the opening period as Colton Sissons found Yakov Trenin skating towards the net. Trenin scored on Kings goaltender David Rittich to make it a 1-0 game.

Nashville was able to kill off a penalty called at 10:59 on Roman Josi for a retaliatory slash. The teams also play two minutes of four on four as Michael McCarron and Adrian Kempe mixed it up after a whistle, but neither team could capitalize on the extra space. Cole Smith sat for a high sticking call at 17:44 and then Yakov Trenin joined him a minute later for tripping, giving the Kings a five on three opportunity. Former Predator Kevin Fiala scored from the slot with less than a minute to go in the period to tie the game up on the two man advantage.

The Kings began the second period with :59 on the Trenin penalty remaining, but the Predators were able to kill that off. Nashville got their first chance on the man advantage at 4:10, but the Kings' penalty kill didn't allow a shot on goal.

Mark Jankowski gave the Predators the lead once more at 14:46 after Luke Evangelista threw a shot on net and Jankowski poked the loose puck past Rittich. The Predators had another opportunity to grow the lead on a power play but were once again frustrated by the Kings penalty kill. The teams headed into the second intermission with Nashville up 2-1.

The Kings started the third with offensive zone time, but the Predators defended well. Midway through the final period, the Kings had five shots on goal to Nashville's two. With just under eight minutes left in the game, the Predators went back on the power play, but again the Kings prevented the Predators from capitalizing.

With 3:26 remaining in third, David Rittich headed to the bench and the Kings added the extra attacker. The Predators were able to clear the puck several times, and then Colton Sissons scored an empty net goal at 17:00 to give Nashville a 3-1 lead. The Kings once again added an extra attacker, but Jeremy Lauzon added an empty net goal with under a minute to play to make the final score 4-1.
