Predators defenseman Jeremy Lauzon out week-to-week with lower-body injury
? Charles LeClaire

The Nashville Predators announced Tuesday that defenseman Jeremy Lauzon is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Lauzon last played in Saturday’s 4-1 win over the Seattle Kraken where he logged 20:14 minutes of ice time and two shots on goal. The 26-year-old has tallied six goals and seven assists for 13 points and 90 penalty minutes through 68 games this season. Lauzon leads the Predators with 327 hits and ranks fourth among shot block leaders with 97.

Lauzon is currently on pace to set career highs across the board in goals, assists and points. Last season, he registered three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 67 games, which is his previous career high.

The Val-d’Or, Quebec product was originally selected No. 52 overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2015 NHL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Bruins before the Seattle Kraken selected him in the expansion draft in 2021. During the 2021-22 NHL trade deadline, Lauzon was dealt to the Predators. Lauzon quickly established himself with the Preds, notching two goals and seven points, including one goal in 13 games with the Predators.

Nashville re-signed Lauzon to a four-year, $8 million contract that has an average annual value (AAV) of $2 million. He is currently in year two of that deal and it will expire at the end of the 2025-2026 season where Lauzon will end up being an unrestricted free agent.

The Predators currently sit first in the wild card race for the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a record of 39-25-4 and 82 points through 68 games. The Predators are currently 8-0-2 in their last 10 games, which saw them go on an eight-game winning streak.
