Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations and General Manager David Poile announced that defenseman Alexandre Carrier will be out for four to six weeks with an upper-body injury.

Carrier was unable to complete Tuesday night’s 2-1 victory against the Winnipeg Jets. Carrier logged just 4:40 of ice time and got into a scrap with 6-foot-8 Logan Stanley during the first period.

The 26-year-old has registered eight points (two goals, six assists) in 40 games this season. Last season, he became a staple of the Preds blueline and recorded 30 points (three goals, 27 assists) in 77 games, along with three assists in four postseason games. He was named to the NHL’s All-Rookie team. The Quebec City native was selected in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL Draft and while he had a quick two-game stint in the 2016-17 campaign, he did not become a regular in the lineup until the 2020-21 campaign. Throughout his career, Carrier has recorded 41 points (six goals, 35 assists) in 141 regular season games.

Additionally, the Predators announced they have called up Kevin Gravel from their American Hockey League affiliate the Milwaukee Admirals. The 30-year-old has played four games with the Predators this season but has spent most of the year with the Admirals where he has registered 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in 36 games. Throughout his 113-game NHL career, Gravel has made stops in Los Angeles, Edmonton and Toronto.
