New York Rangers sign goaltender Louis Domingue to one-year contract extension
? Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

A little organizational depth between the pipes for the team in the Big Apple.

On Sunday, the New York Rangers announced they have signed goaltender Louis Domingue to a one-year contract extension that will carry through the 2024-25 season.

Per Mollie Walker of the New York Post, Dominge has signed a one-way deal with a $775,000 cap hit.

The 32-year-old is in the final year of a two-year deal that he signed with the Rangers in July 2022, carrying an AAV of $775,000.

With the move, the Rangers will have three goaltenders on one-way contracts next season, as Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick are signed through next season. Unless a deal is made prior to the 2024-25 campaign, one of them will most likely be placed on waivers.

Since coming to the Blueshirts two years ago, Domingue has spent the majority of his time with their American Hockey League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. After not playing in the NHL at all last season, the Quebec native made his debut with the Rangers back on Nov. 9, making 25 saves in a win over the Minnesota Wild.

In 143 NHL appearances, he has a 60-60-10 record, a 3.02 goals-against average, a .905 save percentage, and two shutouts.

This season with the Wolf Pack, Domingue is 13-7-4 with 2.65 GAA, a .910 SV% and one shutout.

The former journeyman has made stops with the Arizona Coyotes, Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils, Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames and Pittsburgh Penguins since making his NHL debut in January 2015.

The Rangers (41-18-4) are still atop the Metropolitan Division, four points ahead of the second-place Carolina Hurricanes.

The Wolf Pack (29-17-6-2) are fourth in the AHL’s Atlantic Division, currently on the bubble to make the playoffs.
