More About Grier’s Team Meeting With Sharks
Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

Check out my hit on “Sharks Pregame Live”!

Brodie Brazil and I dive into GM Mike Grier’s team meeting with the San Jose Sharks.

But before we get into that, here are a few more details from yesterday’s meeting, culled from morning skate today.

Notably, Quinn said that he and Grier decided to have the GM address the team right after the 10-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.

“We thought it’d be a good idea for him to go talk to the team, just a different voice, [also] just hearing from the general manager,” Quinn reported.

Quinn revealed that he didn’t address the team after the loss, that he had already talked to them between the second and third periods. He noted that a coach has only so many bullets, and he had already spoken to them after the previous humiliating loss, 10-1 to the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

The San Jose Sharks had the day off on Sunday, and no message was given as to how to approach it. But alternate captain Mario Ferraro shared that he just stewed in the humiliation of giving up 10 goals in back-to-back defeats.

Injured captain Logan Couture sat in on the team meeting, and the coaching staff did not.

“They’ve heard enough from me,” Quinn quipped.

Quinn says that Couture did tell him that GM Doug Wilson used to have one or two of these team meetings a year. This was Grier’s first in his two years as GM.

Anyway, on to my hit!

We discussed what Quinn said to the players at practice Monday, before we spoke with Grier.

I also detailed what Grier told the San Jose Sharks players, and how close the organization is to drastic changes.
