Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour 'moving on' after $25K fine from NHL

Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour kept quiet Thursday when asked about the $25,000 fine he received from the NHL on Wednesday.

When Brind'Amour was asked if he had anything more to add a day after being fined for calling the league "a joke" and criticizing referees, he provided a short answer.

"Fortunately, nope. Moving on," Brind'Amour said during a Zoom conference call, according to The Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Brind'Amour's initial comments came after the Hurricanes fell to the Bruins 4-3 in overtime of Game 1 of their first-round Stanley Cup Playoffs matchup against Boston.

One of Brind'Amour's greatest frustrations came from how officials dealt with the Hurricanes challenging Charlie Coyle's second-period goal, which put the Bruins up 2-1.

Brind'Amour's challenge of an illegal hand pass was denied as officials determined goaltender Petr Mrazek had possession of the puck even though play wasn't stopped. Teams are only allowed one challenge per goal, so Brind'Amour then couldn't challenge for goaltender interference.

While the Hurricanes were penalized for delay of game following the failed challenge, Brock McGinn scored a shorthanded goal to tie the game.

The Bruins and Hurricanes are set to meet for Game 2 of the series on Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET.
