Ex-Maple Leafs Josh Ho-Sang Reappears with Papi Music Tribute
Rob Schumacher-USA TODAY Sports

Josh Ho-Sang’s hockey journey has been filled with twists and turns, from his days with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization to a stint in the KHL with Ufa Salavat Yulaev. After a promising AHL season with the Toronto Marlies in 2021-22, where he showcased his offensive talents, Ho-Sang ventured overseas to Russia to ply his trade in the KHL.

Ho-Sang’s KHL Experience Was Marred By Injury

However, injuries marred his time in the KHL. Despite receiving an invitation to return, that invitation was contingent on one condition. He had to become a Russian citizen. This requirement left Ho-Sang rightfully unsettled. The last word I heard was that he was discussing his future in hockey with his family.

As uncertainty loomed over his next move, the Ufa Salavat Yulaev hockey club prepared paperwork for Ho-Sang to become a citizen, should he choose to return. Yet, the prospect of such a significant decision weighed heavily on him, leading to contemplation about his hockey journey.

Finally, Ho-Sang Decided Not to Re-Sign in Russia

Ultimately, Ho-Sang made a surprising return to North America. Now he’s determined to rebuild and to continue his hockey career. Alongside his passion for the game, he has begun exploring other avenues, including music and app development. One of the tracks on his new project was a tribute to Auston Matthews (Papi) and his ability to overcome his wrist injury.

Despite setbacks, Ho-Sang’s commitment to hockey remained steady, culminating in his recent signing with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL.

As Ho-Sang embarks on this new career chapter with the Everblades, his journey serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of sports. He’s been working hard to overcome obstacles along the way. Good luck to Josh Ho-Sang as he navigates the next phase of his hockey career.
