Calle Jarnkrok Will Be Unavailable to Maple Leafs Until at Least Early April Following Move to Long-Term Injured Reserve

Calle Jarnkrok sustained a hand injury during the Toronto Maple Leafs' 6-2 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Mar. 14. The forward fell hard into the boards hand-first while trying to retrieve a puck.

On Sunday, the Maple Leafs placed the 32-year-old on long-term injured reserve LTIR while activating defenseman Conor Timmins, who has been out of commission while fully recovering from mononucleosis.

Per the rules of LTIR, a player is unavailable to return to a team's active roster until he sits out for 10 games and 24 days. Jarnkrok's LTIR placing is retroactive to the date of his injury (Mar. 14) and that means the player will not be able to return to the Maple Leafs until April. 8 at the earliest when the club hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Jarnkrok has injured his hand twice this season. He missed over six weeks due to a broken knuckle sustained in a practice in late January. He has 10 goals and 11 assists in 52 games this season. According
