On Monday, the Calgary Flames sent blueliner Yan Kuznetsov to the minors. On Tuesday, he’s back! The club announced on Tuesday morning that they’ve recalled Kuznetsov from the American Hockey League’s Calgary Wranglers. Again!

Kuznetsov was up for three days last week during the club’s road trip, where he acted as their seventh defender after an injury to Dennis Gilbert late in the Flames’ win in Nashville on Thursday night. Kuznetsov didn’t dress in either game he was on the NHL roster for.
A second-round pick in 2020, Kuznetsov’s return could be a precursor to him making his NHL debut. Or it could merely be an indication that Gilbert remains unavailable as he recovers from his injury. Perhaps both! We’ll find out in the near future.
The Flames are now at 23 players on their active roster: two goaltenders, eight defencemen and 13 forwards. They’re back in action on Tuesday evening when they host the Ottawa Senators.
