Avalanche Forward Fined For Second Time This Season

Colton was called for a penalty on the ice, so it didn’t go unnoticed. The Ducks did not score on the powerplay, and Colton nearly scored himself coming out of the penalty box. Not a big fan of someone’s legs getting kicked out from underneath them, so I can’t really disagree with the fine here.

Of course, who could forget Colton’s first fine of the season? After throwing a bit hit on Luke Hughes along the boards back on Nov. 8, the Avalanche forward was anticipating some retaliation from the New Jersey Devils. Timo Meier came over towards Colton, but the Avalanche forward got his stick up high and cross-checked Meier in the face. He was ejected, but only fined afterwards.

Needless to say, Colton might be on the NHL’s radar right now after two incidents in under a month. He’s never been suspended before, but two fines in a month will get you noticed. Colorado brought him in to add a little nastiness to the bottom six, and he’s done exactly that.

Colton and the Avalanche are in Los Angeles tonight to take on the Kings. Whether or not they will have Cale Makar remains to be seen, and probably won’t be known until closer to puck drop, as the Avalanche won’t hold a morning skate.
