Artturi Lehkonen's last-second OT goal lifts Avs over Oilers
Perry Nelson-USA TODAY Sports

Artturi Lehkonen scored with 0.5 seconds left in overtime and Sean Walker scored two goals as the visiting Colorado Avalanche won their sixth consecutive game 3-2 over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.

Nathan MacKinnon picked up a loose puck in the right corner and tossed a backhand pass into the low slot where Lehkonen, rushing the net, slammed it through the pads of Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner just before time expired. The win kept the Avalanche in a tie with Dallas for first place in the Central Division.

MacKinnon extended his point streak to 15 games, the longest active streak in the NHL, with the assist on the play. It also was his league-leading 116th point of the season.

It was the first career two-goal game for Walker. Lehkonen also had an assist and Alexandar Georgiev finished with 32 saves to pick up his league-leading 35th win.

Warren Foegele and Sam Carrick scored and Stuart Skinner made 40 saves for Edmonton, which had a two-game win streak snapped. Edmonton center Connor McDavid had his 26-game home point streak (15 goals, 47 assists) come to an end.

Walker, obtained from the Philadelphia Flyers two days before the March 8 trade deadline along with a 2026 fifth-round pick for Ryan Johansen and a conditional 2025 first-rounder, made it 1-0 at the 10:39 mark of second period. Walker fired a wrist shot from the right circle that skimmed off Skinner's blocker before going inside the fair left post, his seventh goal of the season and first with the Avalanche.

Edmonton appeared to tie it early in the third when Zach Hyman put in a rebound of a Leon Draisaitl shot. But the goal was waived off when a review by the Situation Room in Toronto determined Hyman had kicked the puck into the net.

Foegele then tied it at the 5:44 mark when he deflected Evan Bouchard's shot from the right point through Georgiev's pads for his 12th goal.

Carrick gave Edmonton a 2-1 lead when he jammed home a rebound of a Mattias Janmark shot. Corey Perry, who kept the play alive after losing his stick and kicking the puck to Janmark, picked up an assist for his 900th career point.

Walker tied it 2-2 with 5:22 to go when he one-timed Casey Mittelstadt's pass into the low slot to set the stage for the sixth overtime game in the last seven meetings between the teams.
